Now Is a Good Time to Update Google My Business

Update Google My Business Description

If you’re like most other lawyers, you or someone you know set up Google My Business (GMB) for your firm and probably forgot about it. Considering the recent changes below, now is the perfect time to finally log in and make some updates. This post is short, sweet, and to the point. Take some action.

Business Description

Back in August of 2016, Google removed the ability to edit a business description inside of GMB. Not cool, Google.

On March 28th, 2018, Google announced on Twitter that it’s back!

Excellent news.

You’ll now see a new section under the Info tab of GMB to add your description. You have a very generous 750 characters to work with.

Searchers will see this directly inside Google when your GMB listing is displayed.

Services

On April 9th, 2018, GMB expanded access to the menu editor to more business categories, including law firms.

This feature is going to be primarily beneficial to law firms with a “menu” of flat fee services.

You can set up sections, for example “Business Formation”, and then list out each service with the name, price, and description.
